Towards more creative, resilient and experimental brick-and-mortar culture and urban "plinth"-environment

Kortteeri aims to create new locality derived experiences and meanings and livelier built environment by bringing together creative professionals, museums, city developers and small businesses. Kortteeri is partnering with four cities to carry out test and pilot projects: Huittinen, Kankaanpää, Seinäjoki and Varkaus. In each location a pilot project is produced to test multi-disciplinary arts, especially community art and design and urban design as methods for new development for businesses and regions. Kortteeri is  implementing ten pilots in total, which will work as learning environments and are designed to address different site-specific challenges in each location. Such challenges incude empty premises, new forms of physical services and products in the digital era, place/city identity, urbanisation and new urban culture in rural cities and so on.

Kortteeri gathers networks, works as a learning environment and an educator with a specially designed training program. The program will be carried out in all partner cities. The training and workshop materials will be available to all and is specially recommended to colleges and other levels of education, city developer, community activists and entrepreneurs - and all who are interested in developing their activities together with the creative sector.

Kortteeri creates a new regional innovation networks and collaborations for peer-to-peer learning and to share their good practices - this leads to new collaborative networks, sparked by Kortteeri. New networks are formed also to develope new initiatives for the regional stakeholders in the future.
